HistoryQ Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the HistoryQ mobile app.

These Terms apply when you download, access, or use HistoryQ. If you do not agree, do not use the app. HistoryQ is operated by Compound G in the Netherlands. Full trader and contact details appear at the end of these Terms.

The App

HistoryQ is a historical-figure guessing game. The app may include daily puzzles, archive puzzles, historical figure profiles, in-depth story pages, community statistics, local progress, cloud save, rewarded ads, notifications, and optional in-app purchases.

HistoryQ is provided for entertainment and educational purposes. Historical content is written and reviewed with care, but it may contain errors, omissions, simplifications, disputed interpretations, or information that changes over time. HistoryQ should not be used as the sole source for academic, professional, legal, financial, medical, or safety-critical decisions.

Accounts And Cloud Save

The current release automatically creates an AWS-backed account identifier to support cloud backup and account continuity. Some features require network access, supported app versions, and supported cloud services.

If optional email recovery is available and you choose to use it, you are responsible for providing accurate account information and keeping access to your email account secure. HistoryQ cloud save backs up gameplay progress and related app state. Premium Pack purchases are verified and restored through Apple StoreKit and the Apple ID or App Store account conditions supported by Apple.

Daily Puzzles And Content Availability

HistoryQ aims to provide daily puzzles and historical content, but we do not guarantee that a new puzzle, archive puzzle, profile, story page, statistic, or content update will be available every day or forever.

Daily puzzles, archive access, story pages, community statistics, cloud save, rewarded ads, and other online features may depend on supported app versions, App Store availability, operating system support, server availability, third-party providers, internet access, and our ability to continue maintaining the app.

We may change, pause, remove, replace, or discontinue content or features, including daily puzzles and future content updates. Where practical, we will try to give reasonable notice before permanently ending a material online feature, but we cannot guarantee advance notice where discontinuation is required by law, platform rules, security issues, provider changes, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Premium Pack One-Time Purchase

HistoryQ may offer a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase called the Premium Pack or a similar name. The price shown before purchase is controlled by the App Store and may vary by country, taxes, currency, and Apple's pricing rules.

The Premium Pack unlocks premium access inside supported versions of HistoryQ. Unless the App Store purchase screen states otherwise, this includes:

Important limitation: the Premium Pack is a one-time purchase, not a lifetime service guarantee. It does not guarantee that HistoryQ will create, publish, host, or support daily puzzles, archive puzzles, story pages, online services, or future content indefinitely. Access to future puzzles and future premium content is included only while HistoryQ and the relevant content service continue to be maintained and supported.

If support for HistoryQ or its content service ends, future daily puzzles and future content updates may stop. In that situation, the Premium Pack will not entitle you to new puzzles, replacement content, continued server operation, or compensation beyond any rights you may have under applicable law or Apple's App Store rules.

We will try to keep already included or already downloaded premium content available in supported app versions where reasonably possible. Ongoing access may be limited if the app, operating system, App Store, device, server, third-party service, or content license no longer supports it.

Purchases, Billing, And Refunds

In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment, tax, refunds, family sharing eligibility, and purchase history under Apple's terms and policies.

If you need a refund, use Apple's refund process. HistoryQ cannot directly process App Store refunds unless Apple provides a mechanism that allows it.

Restoring purchases requires the same Apple ID or App Store account conditions supported by Apple and StoreKit.

EU And Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law. For consumers in the EU, Netherlands, UK, or other jurisdictions with mandatory digital-content or digital-service protections, those mandatory protections continue to apply.

Depending on your location and the circumstances of your purchase, you may have rights relating to conformity, availability, remedies, updates, withdrawal, refunds, complaints, and support for a reasonable period. Any limitation in these Terms should be read together with those mandatory rights.

The HistoryQ paywall presents the Premium Pack's scope and future-content limitation before purchase and links to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and trader details.

Updates And Compatibility

HistoryQ may provide updates to fix bugs, improve security, change features, support platform requirements, or maintain compatibility. Some updates may be necessary for the app or online features to keep working.

The app may stop working correctly on unsupported devices, unsupported operating systems, removed App Store versions, or app versions that can no longer connect securely to supported services. Where required by applicable law, HistoryQ will provide updates for the period and in the manner required for digital content or digital services.

Rewarded Ads

HistoryQ may offer rewarded ads as an alternative way to unlock certain content or passes. Rewarded ads are optional. Rewards may require a completed ad view, network availability, provider availability, consent where required, and a supported app version.

Ad availability is not guaranteed. We may change or remove rewarded ad options at any time. If Google AdMob or another advertising provider is enabled for users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, HistoryQ uses region-appropriate consent flows and provides a way to revisit advertising choices where required.

Intellectual Property

HistoryQ, its design, code, original writing, puzzle structure, app experience, and branding are owned by the developer or licensed for use in the app. Historical facts themselves are not owned by HistoryQ, but the app's selection, presentation, writing, and interactive experience may be protected by copyright and other rights.

Some historical images, source links, platform services, SDKs, museum materials, archive materials, Creative Commons materials, public-domain materials, or third-party materials may be subject to separate rights, attribution requirements, or licenses.

User Feedback

If you submit ratings, comments, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback, you give HistoryQ permission to use that feedback to improve the app, fix issues, review puzzle quality, and develop future features without owing compensation.

Do not submit personal, confidential, unlawful, or harmful information in feedback comments.

Privacy

Your use of HistoryQ is also governed by the HistoryQ Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what information the app stores or processes, including local progress, cloud backup, pseudonymous puzzle analytics, purchases, advertising, and feedback.

App Store Terms

If you downloaded HistoryQ from Apple's App Store, Apple's terms also apply to your download, purchase, refund, and use of App Store services. If these Terms conflict with mandatory App Store rules, the applicable App Store rules control to the extent required.

Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for HistoryQ, except where Apple is required to do so under applicable law.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HistoryQ is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, always current, available on every device, compatible with every future operating system, or available forever.

This disclaimer does not exclude mandatory consumer guarantees, digital-content conformity rights, update duties, or other rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Limitation Of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HistoryQ and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, loss of progress, loss of content availability, loss of goodwill, or loss arising from interrupted or discontinued app support.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable, fraud, or mandatory consumer rights that cannot be waived.

Changes To The App Or These Terms

We may update the app, content, features, prices, or these Terms for valid reasons such as legal, security, technical, platform, provider, or product changes. Updated Terms will show a new "Last updated" date. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where required and will not treat silence as acceptance where applicable law requires express agreement.

If a change materially reduces a paid feature, mandatory consumer remedies and App Store rules continue to apply. Where required, users may stop using the affected service, terminate the relevant agreement, or seek another remedy provided by law.

Ending Or Suspending Access

We may suspend or end access to online features, cloud services, content updates, or the app as a whole if we discontinue HistoryQ, if third-party services become unavailable, if required by law or platform rules, for security or abuse-prevention reasons, or if you materially breach these Terms. This does not remove any notice, conformity, refund, price-reduction, termination, or other remedy that mandatory consumer law provides.

Governing Law And Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, except where mandatory consumer protection rules in your country provide otherwise.

If you are a consumer, this clause does not deprive you of mandatory rights or court protections in your country of residence that cannot be waived by contract.
